Buxton travelled to Didsbury with 14 men and battled bravely all afternoon.
In the end, the extra man told against them and Didsbury ran in 14 points in the final two minutes.
After absorbing early Didsbury pressure Buxton got into their stride, with Walker and Dilworth dominating the lineout.
With the front row grilling their opposite numbers, Buxton were able to use the experience of Copley in the back row to launch a series of attacks on the Didsbury line.
A planned lineout move involving Beswick and Copley close to the Didsbury line was halted a metre short.
