Fed: Vaile denies Chinese human rights abuses ignored
Trade Minister MARK VAILE denies Australia has sold out human rights to clinch thegas deal with China.
He says claims from Australian Greens Senator BOB BROWN that the government ignoredhuman rights abuses in China are absolute rubbish.
Mr VAILE has told the Seven Network Australia maintains a very robust relationshipwith China, allowing frank discussion of sensitive issues and issues of an economic nature.
Australia's North West Shelf joint venture beat five other bidders to be chosen asthe sole supplier of gas to China's first liquefied natural gas project in Guangdong province.
The 25-year deal will create thousands of jobs for Australia and will inject up to$25 billion into the economy.
