Civil service workers in the city schools should receive a three-year contract giving them a 5 percent raise this year, a state fact finder has recommended.
While the district's Board of Education supports that proposal, the Civil Service Employees Association bargaining unit will meet today
to review the salary and other recommendations. The contract for the 240 workers in the union expired July 1, 1989.
The 34-page report by Sumner Shapiro, a fact finder appointed by the Public Employment Relations Board, became public Monday. It was given to union and district officials last week.
